Mayceo Smith II Lead Pastor
Pastor Mayceo Smith II is the Founder and Lead Pastor of the City of Joy Life Enrichment Center that started in 2009 and currently has a membership of over 600. City of Joy is ministry focused on the scripture Acts 8:8 “And there was great JOY in that City!” Pastor Mayceo has been preaching and teaching the word of God with power and demonstration for over 16 years.
Pastor Mayceo is also the founder of Unity in the Community of Akron Inc. a 501c3 non-profit organization that focuses on the well being of our community. Pastor Mayceo is the business partner and oversees the COJ’s La Soul restaurant that specializes in soul food located in City of Joy.
Pastor Mayceo has been awarded the 2105 30 For The Future Award. 30 for the Future recognizes 30 young professionals (ages 25-39) who live and/or work in the Greater Akron Region, who are trendsetters in their industries, and who make an impact on the region through dynamic leadership and community service.
Pastor Mayceo has been married to Patrice for 17 years and loves being a father to his son Mayceo III and Maya Capri.
Pastor Patrice Smith
Pastor Patrice strives to be an example of a virtuous woman who is yielded to God in every area of her life. The Lord has given her a passion for teaching and prayer which opens up doors for her to aim towards, and produce excellence in all of her ministry opportunities. Pastor Patrice has a heart for God’s people, this burden birthed “I Prevail” ministries. I Prevail is designed to inspire and empower men and women to reach their fullest potential in Christ through retreats, seminars and conferences. I Prevail have recently extended its reach by implementing a mentoring program.
In additional being an accomplished conference host, motivational speaker, prayer warrior, mentor and preacher, Pastor Patrice is extremely dedicated to the community. She received a Volunteer Award from Mayor Plusquellic for her time volunteering in the city of Akron. She has taught non-violent courses as a young adult, a former member of the Black Political Action committee, Dominion East Ohio Diversity Council Chairwoman, and Employee Growth & Development Lead for Dominion East Ohio. Pastor Patrice is also the co-visionary of the 5o1c3 nonprofit organization Unity in the Community of Akron LLC, started to honor the memory of her brother who was tragically killed in 2010. Her work in the community captured the attention of the Emmy nominated TV show the American Bible Challenge where she and her team mates came in 3rd place and raised over $27,500 for her charity Unity in the Community.
While very grateful for every opportunity, Pastor Patrice mission in life is to hear 7 words from God “well done thy good and faithful servant”.

Pastor Andrae Hampton Sr
Pastor Andrae Hampton, Sr. was installed as the Assistant Pastor of The City of Joy Life Enrichment Center in 2014. He accepted his call to the ministry in 2001 and received his ministerial license from the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World in 2003. He is the youngest son of Bishop Samuel and Dr. Lula Hampton, Sr. And the proud brother of Pastor Samuel Hampton II, who is the Senior Pastor of the First Apostolic Faith Church.
Pastor Andrae graduated from Mount Union College in 1998 with a bachelors degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management.
He is married to his lovely wife, LaToya and has been blessed with 4 wonderful children. His favorite scripture is Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God , and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Pastor DeVonn Nixon Sr
Pastor DeVonn Nixon Sr was installed Executive Youth Pastor in 2014. He currently oversees over 100 youth here at City of Joy called Youth Nation. Youth Nation has three groups Quake Kids (elementary) Impact Teens (High School) City Blazers (college).
Pastor DeVonn also is the Director for our 501c3 Unity In The Community. A non profit that helps youth into making better decisions focusing on educations and non violence. He has a passion to see our youth be successful andequipped for the future.
Pastor DeVonn is married to his lovely wife Minister Angela Nixon and has 2 children DeVonn Jr and Alexandria.
