About Us

About Us

The City of Joy Life Enrichment Center had its grand opening on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at the Judith Resnik Elementary School under the leadership and vision of Pastor Mayceo Smith. Since then, the membership has grown at a very fast pace. God has given us favor as we purchased our own building located at 610 W. Exchange St Akron Ohio 44302. We are blessed in the fact that our Pastor has been called and chosen by God to lead people to an enriched life and to inspire individuals to have a loving and intimate relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

What We Believe

The Bible

Psalm 119:89, II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:20-21, Revelation 22:18-19

The Bible Details

The Bible is the infallible Word of God and is forever settled in heaven. Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. Given by inspiration of God, it is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness.

One God

Genesis 1:26, Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 9:6, John 1:14, 3:16-18, 8:58,10:30, Acts 1:8, II Corinthians 5:19 Colossians 2:9, I Timothy 2:5

One God Details

The Godhead is comprised of three manifestations of the One God. He is Father in creation, Son in redemption of mankind and the Holy Ghost in the grace dispensation.

Salvation

Luke 24:48 John 3:3, Acts 4:12, Ephesians 2:8-10, John 1:14, Colossians 1:12-15, Hebrews 1:3, 7:25, Isaiah 9:6, I Timothy 4:10

Salvation Details

Souls are saved by grace through faith in the only begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ. Through whom the lost are redeemed and sins are forgiven. He ever lives to make intercession for those who come to God by him. Jesus is the image of the invisible God and was born through virgin birth to be the Savior of all men, especially to them that believe. Simultaneously totally man and God incarnate. We must be born again according to the scriptures. Jesus stated, Repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Holy Ghost

Luke 11:13, John 3:3-5, 16:13, Acts 2:1-4, Acts 19:1-6, Romans 8:9, Galatians 5:22-25

Holy Ghost Details

God gives the Holy Ghost at the new birth experience. The initial, outward evidence of being filled is speaking in other tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance. The indwelling of the Holy Ghost indicates God’s seal and ownership.

We believe the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ John 16:14. The Holy Spirit regenerates the sinner upon belief in Christ, baptizing the believer into one body of which Christ is the head. The Holy Spirit indwells, guides, instructs, fills comforts and empowers the believer for godly living. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, of God’s righteousness and of coming judgment. The fruit of the Spirit should be evident in a true Spirit filled disciple of Christ. Jesus promised the Holy Ghost would give us power to be witnesses, comfort us, abide with us, lead and guide into all truth and teach us.

Communion

I Corinthians 5:7, I Corinthians 11:24-26

Communion Details

In remembrance of Jesus, holy communion is an ordinance commanded to His followers, showing forth the Lord’s death till He come. The wine represents His blood and the unleavened bread represents His broken body. This ordinance is a privilege to the regenerated in spirit. Jesus is our passover from eternal death into eternal life.

Water Baptism

Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:16, Luke 24: 46-49, Acts 2:36-38, 10:43-48, Romans 2:4, 6:4-6, II Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 3:26-27, I Peter 3:21-22

Water Baptism Details

Upon a repentant heart and confession of faith in Christ Jesus, through the prompting of the Spirit of God, water baptism is a command instituted by Jesus for all true believers. Immersion in water is symbolic of Christ’s burial and resurrection to a new life obtained by the true believer. The goodness of God is what leads us to true repentance and the acknowledging that Jesus is both Lord and Savior. Baptism is an answer of a good conscience toward God.
